Artists on Audiences: Three Ontario Artistic Directors Discuss

Friday March 24th, 2:30pm-4:30pm, University of Toronto Mississauga

Sponsored by the University of Toronto Mississauga Department of English and Drama

Event Details

Date/Time: Friday March 24th, 2:30-4:30pm

Location: Instructional Centre, room 270. University of Toronto Mississauga Campus, 3359 Mississauga Road, Mississauga, Ontario

Following broader discussions about diversifying and renewing theatre audiences, made more pressing in the age of COVID, this roundtable explores the partnership and potential points of connection between theatres and audience researchers. It will also advance critical discussions in audience studies by thinking through how we invite, imagine, and cast Ontario audiences.

The event will feature a moderated discussion with Ontario Artistic Directors, including Theatre Passe Muraille’s Marjorie Chan, MT Space’s Pam Patel, and b current’s marcel stewart about engaging audiences, followed by light catered reception!

We’d like to thank our major sponsor, the Department of English and Drama at the University of Toronto Mississauga for making this event possible.

Travel instructions from Downtown Toronto:

Driving: Take the Gardiner Expressway West, and merge onto Queen Elizabeth Way. (See this map for parking instructions and to locate the Instructional Building, click here for more information on visitor parking)

Transit: There are two key ways to get to the UTM campus:

  • Take the UTM Shuttle from the University of Toronto St. George Campus. The shuttle boards on the East side of the intersection of King’s College Road and Galbraith Road, departing every 20 minutes. The fare is $7 each way, and it takes approximately an hour to reach UTM, letting off right in front of the Instructional Building. Tickets must be purchased in advance from Hart House information services (less than a 10 minute walk from the shuttle stop).

    • Note: For current CDTPS graduate students - UTM’s department of English and Drama has generously sponsored the shuttle trip to and from campus. To get your free shuttle tickets, meet at the shuttle stop by 1:10pm Friday March 24th, for the 1:15pm departure time - or contact Signy at signy.lynch@gmail.com

  • Take the subway all the way West on line two, and take the 1 or the 101 Bus West from Kipling station (about a 35-40 minute ride from the station to UTM, Presto card users can tap on to the Mississauga transit system).
